How to Listen to Your Body and Shift Out of Old Food Paradigms
(i.e. Confessions of a Recovering Die Hard Raw Vegan)
Many of you may have been wondering about my recent posts about loving yourself and your body for what it is like right at this present moment. And perhaps even wondering how that fits in to my Raw Vegan Gluten Free Chef background. The truth is, I was looking for a way to expand my life coaching and nutrition skills together with the best philosophies that have been helping me and so many others heal.
My main background as most of you know, is gluten free, vegetarian/vegan, and raw food philosophies. In all started in 2006. I found out that I had Celiac Disease and had to stay away from gluten. That is all I knew about it. There wasn’t too much information on gluten free on the web or in the libraries back then. I had no clue gluten is in about 90% of the foods at restaurants and grocery stores. It took me years of trial and error with my poor body going through pure hell. I eventually found Dr. Peter Osborne and his knowledge on gluten and got certified in Glutenology. Wow, the misinformation on gluten from books, the internet, by doctors, and by food manufacturers still to this very day astounds me!
I went on to learn how also to be vegetarian/vegan because dairy was also a main culprit in allergies for me. Being a gluten free vegan literally saved my life back when I had cancer. I wanted to then learn more about Raw Foods, because they are so alkaline for healing health conditions. I went on a life changing journey to Living Light Culinary Institute in Ft. Bragg, CA and received my Raw Food Chef & Instructor Degree. Boy, do I love to teach raw foods – they are so yummy and healthy.
The latter part of last year, I saw a Facebook post my friend did about an 8th month course she was taking from Institute for Psychology of Eating, out of Boulder, CO. I was quite intrigued! This was the missing piece to my puzzle about receiving guidance with melting my philosophies together. I signed up right away and dove right in, loving every minute of it.
Thankfully, every time I would listen to Marc David, founder and teacher of Psychology of Eating, his words would resonate with me so much. So much of his teachings are about how each person’s body is different. There is no set rules or diets that work with every person. The most healing I have done on myself is learning to tap into my own true body’s intuition and what it is telling me it needs. When I don’t, boy do I have hell to pay!
I am proud to say, I have worked really long and hard to blend my life coaching background with the concepts of all these different eating philosophies and psychology of eating and how each person can learn to listen to their own body for optimal health.
Stay tuned for my monthly subscription that is coming out soon. It will include all kinds of informative and instructional videos on gluten free, vegetarian/vegan and raw food, as well as other healthy eating philosophies. Most importantly, it will encompass how we can love our bodies into health, while learning how to bust through the conditioning of diet culture and let go of all these crazy diets and old, outdated philosophies, and also learn to listen to your own body’s inner wisdom.
We’ll also cover how not to lose your ever-loving mind when it comes to trying to figure out where you stand with all these health concepts. I like to call it Body Wisdom. More to come so stay tuned!
